When Offered: Spring. Even-numbered years This course will focus on the rise of the Roman Empire, from the Principate to the third century crisis. Special attention will be given to military, economic and political developments, as well as the ever-changing concept of what “Roman” meant across the empire. This course will be primarily discussion, with some lecture.
