C I 3557 - Build It! Design Technology and Elementary STEAM Education (3)

When Offered: Fall; Spring
This course focuses on developing strategies for integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) in the elementary school curriculum.  Preservice teachers will work with a wide range of materials – Legos, wood, cameras, computers and more – to design, build, and test a variety of creations, including self-propelled cars, robots and stop-motion animations. Students will explore how such project-based learning activities can be used in classrooms to foster innovation, collaboration and creativity. This course includes 10 or more hours of service learning.
