PHY 2120 - Modern Physics II (3) When Offered: On Demand An introduction to the theories and experiments of 20th-century physics: special relativity; wave-particle duality; atomic structure; and natural and artificial radioactivity. Elementary results from quantum theory will be applied to the solid state and the nucleus. Descriptive treatment of frontier topics such as particle physics, accelerators, and superconductivity. Prerequisite: PHY 2110 .
