MUS 3023 - String Orchestral Techniques and Literature (3)


When Offered: Fall. Even-numbered years
A survey of the materials and methods for orchestral instruction and leadership. This course is designed for instrumental music education majors planning careers as orchestra directors in grades 6-12. Topics include: philosophical development, logistical organization, and administration of a comprehensive instrumental string music program including appropriate literature. Public school level orchestral literature will be studied in this course. The course is comprised of both lecture and laboratory components for 3 hours.
Prerequisite: admission to the music education degree program.
