PS 3555 - Leaders and International Conflict (3) When Offered: Spring, Even-numbered years The field of political science commonly explains countries’ domestic and foreign policies with arguments about states, regimes, and governments. These approaches miss an important point: political leaders make decisions and, consequently, are responsible for policy. This course draws on a wide range of material to demonstrate how the interaction between leaders’ incentives and policy preferences influence countries’ national policies. The class provides students with an analytic framework that allows them to develop a greater understanding of historical and contemporary politics.
