BIO 5620 - Landscape Ecology (4) [DL]

When Offered: Spring
Introduction to the study of plant and animal populations, communities and ecosystems embedded within natural and human-dominated landscapes, with applications of landscape ecology principles to natural resource management and conservation. Emphasis will be on understanding the causes and consequences of land use change and pattern, how to quantify and interpret that pattern, and the ecological implications of spatial and temporal resource dynamics. The lab is designed to enhance comprehension of lecture material, introduce and apply pertinent software, and provide opportunities for students to propose, design and complete their own landscape-oriented research projects.
Prerequisites: BIO 3302 (Ecology) or equivalent; BIO 5777 .
