Topics include the meaning of Jacksonian democracy; slavery and race relations; the antislavery movement and the rise of social reform movements including temperance, utopianism, and women’s rights; Indian removal; the market economy; the westward movement; the Mexican American War; the free soil movement; and the secession crisis.
