Appalachian offers a 36-hour Master of Arts degree in Romance Languages with specializations in French or Spanish Teaching.  Within each language, candidates can specialize to focus on K-12 or College Teaching.

The K-12 teaching track leads to a North Carolina “M” teaching licensure. The College Teaching track prepares new and practicing teachers for college-level work in language teaching or other areas related to international study.

The program combines online and face-to-face meetings, together with summer institute offerings, to offer a high-quality, interactive program for professionals who work during the day.

The French Certificate is designed to provide depth on knowledge in French language and Francophone culture.

The Spanish Certificate is designed to provide depth on knowledge in Spanish language and Hispanic culture.
