The curriculum is designed to provide didactic and clinical practicum experiences that meet the Professional Standards set forth by the CAATE. The educational mission of the Master of Science in Athletic Training program is to develop evidence-based healthcare professionals with the ability to think critically and reflectively, and communicate effectively in a changing healthcare market. The Master of Science in Athletic Training prepares students to become competent athletic trainers who are engaged members of the healthcare team and community, and advocates for their patients in the prevention, assessment, and treatment of injuries and illnesses.

The program begins in the first Summer Session of the year, is designed to be a two-year program, and leads to eligibility to sit for the Board of Certification© examination.

The Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program prepares specialists in the prevention, evaluation, and management of human communication disorders through relevant educational experiences, clinical practica, and research opportunities. Students are expected to: understand the basic processes of human communication based on a foundation of knowledge in the physical, social, and cognitive sciences; understand the nature of disorders of human communication; understand the basic principles underlying the prevention, evaluation, and management of those disorders; have the ability to apply those principles in the provision of clinical services; become competent consumers and users of research; and develop a commitment to continuing education and professional development.

Students in the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program complete the academic and clinical experiences required for certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and licensure by the North Carolina Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.  This graduate degree program requires the equivalent of five full-time semesters for students with undergraduate degrees in speech-language pathology. For students entering the program with undergraduate degrees in fields other than speech-language pathology, prerequisite courses must be completed prior to enrolling in graduate coursework. The course of study for out-of-field students requires three additional semesters to complete.
