Major Requirements (44-53 Hours)


2.0 major GPA is required for graduation. Major GPA calculation will include all courses taken in the Government & Justice Studies dept, plus any other courses under Major Requirements. Minimum of 18 sem hrs of courses taken to fulfill major requirements must be courses offered by Appalachian.

You must complete at least one 3-hour course with a Writing in the Discipline [WID] designation within the Major Requirements. Courses with the [WID] designation are P S 3001 , P S 3280 , P S 3320 , P S 3370 , P S 4230 , P S 4723 , & P S 4748 . [WID] All have PRE: R C 2001 .

International Relations


Choose two courses (6 hours) from the following:

You must complete at least one 3-hour course with a Writing in the Discipline [WID] designation. Courses with the [WID] designation are P S 3001 , P S 3280 , P S 3320 , P S 3370 , P S 4230 , P S 4723 , & P S 4748 . [WID] All WID courses have PRE: R C 2001 . The WID course can count in International Relations, or Comparative Politics, or Political Science Electives.

Political Science Electives


Choose three courses (9 hours) in consultation with an advisor.

International & Comparative Politics Concentration (9-18 Hours)


All students are required to have a minor. In addition, students need to take classes drawn from one or more disciplines outside Political Science (except in the case of an internship). Students select courses in consultation with the assigned departmental advisor for this specific concentration. Courses not listed below may be included in the concentration with the consent of the advisor and department chair. Concentration often includes an internship or a study abroad experience, and all concentrations require STT 1810 . ** Students must have 90 hours of coursework to be eligible for P S 4900 .
