Major Requirements (53 Hours)


2. 0 major GPA is required for graduation. Major GPA calculation will include all courses taken in the Government & Justice Studies discipline, plus any other courses under Major Requirements. Minimum of 18 semester hours of courses taken to fulfill major requirements must be courses offered by Appalachian.

You must complete at least one 3-hour course with a Writing in the Discipline [WID] designation within the Major Requirements. Courses with the [WID] designation are PS 3280 , PS 3320 , PS 3370 , PS 3550 , PS 3570 PS 4230 , PS 4723 PS 4748 , PA 4665 . [WID] All have PRE: RC 2001 .

The WID course can count in PS Electives under either the Public Management or TACCM track. (All [WID] courses have RC 2001  as a prereq.)

Required Public Administration Concentration (15 Hours)


The concentration, made up of courses drawn from the list of courses below, requires careful planning. Students are encouraged to develop their program of study early in their academic careers with the assigned departmental advisor for this specific concentration.

Minor (REQUIRED) (12-21 Hours)


One of the following minors is required: Accounting, Criminal Justice, Healthcare Management, Human Resources Management, General Business, Nonprofit Organizations, or Sustainable Development. Other minors may be allowed with approval of advisor and department chair.
