Major Requirements (44-53 Hours)


2.0 major GPA is required for graduation. Major GPA calculation will include all courses taken in the major discipline, plus any other courses under Major Requirements. Minimum of 18 semester hours of courses taken to fulfill major requirements must be courses offered by Appalachian.

You must complete at least one 3-hour course with a Writing in the Discipline [WID] designation within the Major Requirements. Courses with the [WID] designation are PS 3280 , PS 3320 , PS 3370 , PS 3550 , PS 3570 ,PS 4230 , PS 4723 , & PS 4748 . [WID] All have PRE: RC 2001 .

Political Science Electives

International & Comparative Politics Concentration (9-18 Hours)


All students are required to have a minor. In addition, students need to take classes drawn from one or more disciplines outside Political Science (except in the case of an internship). Students select courses in consultation with the assigned departmental advisor for this specific concentration. Courses not listed below may be included in the concentration with the consent of the advisor and department chair. Concentration often includes an internship or a study abroad experience, and all concentrations require STT 1810 . ** Students must have 90 hours of coursework to be eligible for PS 4900 .
