LLC 5600 - Linguistics (3) When Offered: Summer Session Study of sounds/intonation, word formation, syntax, semantics, pragmatics and their application to learning a second language. Different theoretical approaches will be explained. Students will apply linguistic concepts to problems in a variety of languages. The course will also demonstrate how linguistics analyzes dialects and resolves problems of language learning and teaching.
