HIS 3125 - Roman Empire (3) When Offered: Spring. Even-numbered years This course examines the Roman state from the founding of the Principate of Augustus through the crisis of the third century and the transformation of the empire, including its major political, social, and economic dimensions. It spans the entire Mediterranean world as it came under Roman influence, with particular attention to what “Roman” meant at various times and places across the empire.
