HIS 3308 - U.S.-Latin American Relations (3) When Offered: Fall. Odd-numbered years This course will examine historical perspectives on U.S.-Latin American relations, with the goal of interpreting differing frames of analysis and preparing students to teach in a multi-cultural environment. From the nineteenth to the twenty-first centuries, social and political actors in Latin America actively shaped their relations with the United States. This interaction influenced lives in both continents in important ways. Most recently, contacts have focused on drug traffic, armed insurrections, terrorism, trade relations, and migration policies.
