S W 2615 - Cultural Competence in the Helping Professions (3) When Offered: Fall; Spring GEN ED: Integrative Learning Experience (Theme: “Intersections: Race, Class, and Gender”) This course offers an opportunity for students to examine both personal and professional issues related to practice in the helping professions. Focus is on sensitivity to, understanding of, and appreciation for people from diverse cultural backgrounds. It includes content related to vulnerable, underserved groups in the United States and examines culture and social class within the context of culturally proficient delivery of human services.
