S W 4270 - School Social Work (3) When Offered: Fall Study of the role and competencies of the school social worker as a member of the pupil personnel team in the U.S. educational system. Social work practice in the school setting with students, their families, and communities will be examined. The course will focus on addictions, disabilities, pregnancy, poverty, and serious behavioral difficulties. Discussion of NC school social work licensure, policies, current issues, and reforms in education will also be included. [Dual-listed with SW 5270.] Dual-listed courses require senior standing; juniors may enroll with permission of the department.
