NUR 5040 - Theories for Advanced Nursing Practice (3) When Offered: Fall This course is designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to integrate theories from behavioral, social, applied, and nursing science to both individual patients for whom they directly care and to those individuals for whom they are indirectly responsible. Holistic concepts of human beings, health, nursing, and environment provide the foundation for comparing nursing theories. Exploration of theoretical frameworks relevant to nursing provides student knowledge to develop specific care concepts pertinent to cultural diversity, health promotion, and comprehensive practice. Special emphasis is on the integration and application of theory into advanced nursing practice. Prerequisite: Admission to MSN program.
