S W 5002 - Competencies for Child Welfare (3)

This course provides the student the opportunity to learn about the roles of a social worker in public child welfare and the basic competencies necessary to work within North Carolina’s public child welfare system. The course also focuses on issues of child maltreatment, child abuse and neglect identification, needs of children and families, and policies and procedures, such as assessments, in-home services, out-of-home placement, and adoptions. The course is required for MSW students seeking to complete a field placement in public child welfare, along with other MSW course requirements.
Prerequisites: S W 5005 ; S W 5010 ; S W 5030 ; S W 5040 ; S W 5200 ; S W 5210 ; S W 5220 ; S W 5230 ; S W 5240  or consent of the instructor.
