When Offered: Spring GEN ED: Historical Studies Designation; Liberal Studies Experience This course surveys the historical development of Buddhist traditions in Asia, beginning with ancient India and continuing with the emergence of major schools and traditions in China, Japan, Tibet, and Southeast Asia. We will also examine Buddhism and modernity in Asia and representations and practices of Buddhism in Western popular culture and society. (Global Learning Opportunity Course)
