RES 7160 - Qualitative Research Traditions in Education (3) When Offered: Fall This course surveys the foundations of qualitative design, investigating the history, philosophy and nature of qualitative research. Examples of different types of interpretive and critical methodologies in education will be studied. Central objectives include formulating criteria by which to evaluate qualitative research in education, gaining an understanding of the socio-cultural context within which such research is conducted. Learners will read and evaluate representations of qualitative research from various interpretive and critical traditions and will identify issues related to ethics, validity, and reflexivity.
