P_H 5600 - Global Public Health in Rural Populations (3) When Offered: Fall This course is designed to provide a background in global health relating specifically to rural populations around the world. It focuses on cultural, structural, political and economic causes and consequences of health problems, and presents new methods designed to improve health behaviors and health outcomes. Context areas to be addressed in this course include, but are not limited to, infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, sexual and gender-based violence, water, sanitation and hygiene, food security, and humanitarian emergencies. Prerequisite: P_H 5000
