GEN ED: (PHY 1170 and PHY 1161) Science Inquiry Perspective (Theme: “Physics with Calculus”)
An analytical and quantitative treatment of physics at a somewhat more advanced level than the PHY 1123-PHY 1124 sequence using calculus. Intended primarily for students majoring in the natural sciences, mathematical sciences, and pre-engineering. Topics covered include mechanics, heat, light, sound, electricity, magnetism, and quantum phenomena.
NOTE: For Physics majors only, PHY 1123 with a minimum grade of “C-” (1.7) OR PHY 1170 with a minimum grade of “C-” (1.7).
Prerequisite: PHY 1123 or PHY 1170. Corequisite: MAT 1120. Prerequisite or corequisite: PHY 1161.
