When Offered: Fall. Alternate Years Social scientists have often relied on the naturalized, universal understanding of the human body adopted from the biomedical sciences. This course challenges these assumptions by examining the multiple bodies and diverse forms of subjectivity found in the anthropological literature and other fields of scholarship. Our explorations of lived bodies will, in turn, contribute to more sophisticated understandings of human social and cultural forms. Students who have previously received credit for ANT 4281 may not enroll in or receive credit for ANT 4280.
