Foundations of American Democracy Requirement (3 Hours)


Foundations of American Democracy Requirement  

Three (3) credits of Foundations of American Democracy (FAD) are required for degree completion. Courses that meet this requirement may also be used to meet other major, minor, or General Education requirements.

General Education Requirements (41 Hours)


General Education Requirements (41 Hours)  

(ARH 2030  and ARH 2130  and ART 2022  taken for the major may count toward General Education.)

Professional Education Requirements (24 Hours)


A minimum grade of “C” (2.0) must be earned in all Professional Education Courses by Teacher Education majors.

NOTE:


To be admitted to Teacher Education, students must have a minimum 2.7 cumulative GPA, completed 30 semester hours, completed criminal background check and successfully completed testing requirements for Reading, Writing and Math areas of the PRAXIS I CORE (or exempt based on SAT or ACT scores). Major Requirements (64 Hours)


A minimum grade of “C” (2.0) is required in each ART course for the major. 18 hours must be completed at Appalachian.

  • Junior Writing in the Discipline
  • Senior Capstone Experience must be met

Teacher Licensure


Teacher licensure programs require a minimum of 2.7 cumulative GPA from admission into the teacher education program until graduation, including for admission to student teaching.
