Foundations of American Democracy Requirement (3 Hours)

Foundations of American Democracy Requirement  

Three (3) credits of Foundations of American Democracy (FAD) are required for degree completion. Courses that meet this requirement may also be used to meet other major, minor, or General Education requirements.

General Education Requirements (41 Hours)

• General Education Requirements (41 Hours)  

MAT 1110  will count toward Quantitative Literacy general education requirement.

PSY 3010  will count toward the General Education requirements.

Professional Education Requirements (24 Hours)

A minimum grade of “C” (2.0) must be earned in all Professional Education Courses by Teacher Education majors.

• EDU 2000 - Introduction to Learners, Teachers, and Schools (3) +
• EDU 2100 - Social Foundations of Education (3) +
• EDU 3000 - Diverse Learners: Teaching and Learning (3) #
• EDU 3100 - Assessment for Learning (3) #
• EDU 4900 - Student Teaching (12) [CAP]

• #Prerequisites: EDU 2000 , EDU 2100 , and Admission to Teacher Education. EDU 3000  and EDU 3100  should not be taken concurrently.

Major Requirements (44 Hours)

Not including 7 hours counted in General Education Requirements, above

2. 0 major GPA is required for graduation. Major GPA calculation will include all courses taken in the major department, plus any other courses under Major Requirements. Minimum of 18 semester hours of courses taken to fulfill major requirements must be courses offered by Appalachian.
