Foundations of American Democracy Requirement (3 Hours)
Foundations of American Democracy Requirement Three (3) credits of Foundations of American Democracy (FAD) are required for degree completion. Courses that meet this requirement may also be used to meet other major, minor, or General Education requirements. General Education Requirements (41 Hours)
Some general education requirements may be double-counted in the major with departmental approval. Please see your advisor for information. Language Requirements (3 Hours)
Students are required to demonstrate intermediate-level proficiency in a language other than English. Intermediate-level proficiency is demonstrated by successful completion of a 4th-semester language course in one of the following: - *

or - (A higher-level language course that requires one of the above listed courses as a prerequisite may also be used to fulfill the language requirement.)
Note: Beginning language course I & II or beginning combination language course and intermediate language course I are prerequisites for *intermediate level II course. Placement tests are designed for placement purposes only, and a score on this test alone is not sufficient to demonstrate intermediate-level proficiency. Language courses 1050 or 1060 may be used in General Education. Major Requirements (41-45 Hours)
2.0 major GPA is required for graduation. Major GPA calculation will include all courses taken in the major discipline, plus any other courses under Major Requirements. Minimum of 18 semester hours of courses taken to fulfill major requirements must be courses offered through Appalachian. Introduction to Discipline (4 Hours)
Research Methods (7-8 Hours)
*Minimum grade of “C” (2.0) required Foundations of Psychological Science (12 Hours)
Choose at least one course from each of the following groups PSY 3100 is a prerequisite/co-requisite for each of these courses Indiv/Group Behavior Group
Learning & Cognition Group
Doing Psychology (3 Hours)
Choose 3 hours from the following Laboratory and/or Reasearch/Fieldwork courses: Research/Fieldwork Courses
Any PSY Service Learning course will fulfill this requirement except PSY 2100 . Applied Psychology (6 Hours)
Choose at least two courses from the following Capstone Course (3 Hours)
Choose at least one course from the following PSY 3100 is a prerequisite for each of these courses Psychology Elective Courses (Choose 6 Hours)
PSY 1200 is a prerequisite for each of these courses, and PSY 3100 is a prerequisite for some of these courses. Choose at least six (6) credit hours from PSY 2210 or any PSY 3000-3999 or any PSY 4000-4999 courses not used to meet another major or other degree requirement Minor Required (12-21 Hours)
- Minimum of 9 semester hours of courses taken to fulfill minor requirements must be courses offered through Appalachian.
