Foundations of American Democracy Requirement (3 Hours)
Foundations of American Democracy Requirement Three (3) credits of Foundations of American Democracy (FAD) are required for degree completion. Courses that meet this requirement may also be used to meet other major, minor, or General Education requirements. General Education Requirements (41 Hours)
Major Requirements (70 Hours)
2.0 major GPA is required for graduation. Major GPA calculation will include all courses counted under Major Requirements. Minimum of 18 semester hours of courses taken to fulfill major requirements and 9 semester hours of courses taken to fulfill minor requirements must be courses taken through Appalachian. A minimum of 24 semester hours taken to complete Major Requirements must be at or above the 3000 level. Professional Studies Required Courses (7-19 Hours)
Areas of Focus (24-53 Hours)
Every student is required to have two areas of focus. Each of these must be a minor or certificate (with at least 12 semester hours) offered by some program on campus. Contextual Electives (0-39 Hours)
Other electives taken in support of the Areas of Focus. May be from the same or different disciplines and can be previously taken credits. Must bring total hours in major to 70. Electives (9+ Hours)
