Categories and Designations

Complete 18 credit hours from three Categories: Sustainability and Climate Literacy (SCL), Intercultural Literacy (ICL), and Humanity and Its Systems (HUM). At least 3 credit hours must be taken from each Category, and the remaining 9 credit hours can be from any of the three categories.


Designation Requirements: Within these 18 credit hours, you must complete 3 credit hours from each of the following Designations: Fine Arts (FA), Historical Studies (HS), Literary Studies (LS), and Social Science (SS).

Additional Notes


  • This major is only available to transfer students who have completed an associate in applied science (AAS) degree in a health related field from a regionally accredited North Carolina Community College.

  • H S GPA requirements: 2.0 cumulative GPA required for graduation. There are no GPA retention requirements. The Beaver College of Health Sciences requires a minimum 2.0 major GPA for graduation.

  • 18 credit hours in major and 9 credit hours in minor must be at App State.

  • At least 15 hours of courses must be at the 3000-level or above.

  • As stated in the catalog, the final responsibility for meeting graduation requirements remains with the student.
