General Education Requirements (44 Hours)


Some general education requirements may be double-counted in the major with departmental approval. Please see your advisor for information.

Major Requirements (48-49 Hours)


2.0 major GPA is required for graduation. Major GPA calculation will include all courses taken in the major department, plus any other courses under Major Requirements. Minimum of 18 semester hours of courses taken to fulfill major requirements must be courses offered by Appalachian.

Methods (3 Hours)


Choose one of the following

Methods courses from ANT 3530-3549  or courses in other departments may substitute but are subject to approval

Students may not enroll in a course as a capstone if they have already taken the parallel course (i.e., ANT 4250  for ANT 4251 ; ANT 4320  for ANT 4321 ; ANT 4330  for ANT 4331 ; or ANT 4350  for ANT 4351 ). Students should therefore consult with their advisors before selecting seminars and electives.

Anthropology Electives at or Above 2000 Level (9 Hours)


It is highly recommended that these courses be chosen in consultation with the student’s advisor

Minor (Optional but Recommended)


Recommended minors include Biology (BIO), Chemistry (CHE), Criminal Justice (CJ), Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD), Geography (GHY), Geology (GLY), Exercise Science (ES), Mathematics (MAT), Nutrition and Foods (NUT), Statistics (STT), or foreign languages.
