General Education Requirements (44 Hours)


Language Requirements (6-12 Hours)


Completion of 6 semester hours at the *intermediate level or higher

Note: Language courses 1010 & 1020 or 1030 are prerequisites for *intermediate level courses.

Language courses 1050 or 1060 may be used in General Education Liberal Studies Experience.

Major Requirements (30 Hours)


2.0 major GPA is required for graduation. Major GPA calculation will include all courses taken in the major department, plus any other courses under Major Requirements. Minimum of 18 semester hours of courses taken to fulfill major requirements must be courses offered by Appalachian. No more than 46 semester hours of French courses may be counted toward the BA Degree.

All students who wish to enroll in courses taught in French on the level of 2000 or above must see an advisor in the department before enrolling.

Minor Required (12-21 Hours)


  • Minimum of 9 semester hours of courses taken to fulfill minor requirements must be courses offered by Appalachian.

Electives (21-30 Hours)


Taken to total 122 hours for the degree

  • 2 semester hours of free electives must be outside the major discipline.
