REL 3150 - Religion, Gender, and the Body (3) When Offered: Spring. Alternate years This course examines how religions configure the human body as both a problem and an opportunity. Students will examine theories concerning the social and cultural construction of gender, sexuality, and embodiment, and the implications of these theories for the study of religion. Case studies will help students gain proficiency in applying the theoretical insights of cultural and gender studies not only to specific cultural and historical settings, but also to similar phenomena in other times and places. (Global Learning Opportunity course)
