When Offered: Spring This course explores the social, economic, political and cultural history of Americans of Mexican descent from Spanish exploration and settlement through the twentieth century. It also focuses on the cultural heritage of Mexican-Americans; the meaning of “El Norte;” the Mexican-U.S. War and its aftermath; immigration; migrant labor; bilingual and bicultural education; and the Chicano movement.
