HIS 3420 - History of Western Medicine and Public Health (3) When Offered: Fall. Odd-numbered years This course examines the roots of Western medicine in Classical and traditional Europe. Focusing on the development of medical and public health approaches and occupations in nineteenth- and twentieth-century United States, the course explores cultural, scientific, economic, and political contexts for suffering and healing.
