TEC 3739 - Materials and Structures III (3) When Offered: Fall; Spring This course introduces basic behavior of soils and the design and construction of foundations. Topics include the properties of soil and its behavior under stress and strain in idealized conditions as well as the application of the principles of soil mechanics in the planning, design, and construction of foundations for buildings, highways, dams, and other structures. Lecture two hours, laboratory two hours. Prerequisite: TEC 3738 Â with a minimum grade of “C” (2.0).
