PHY 5850 - Advanced Materials Science Laboratory (3) When Offered: Spring, Even-numbered years This course provides an understanding of the relationship between structure and properties for materials via advanced laboratories. This course broadly covers material systems including: metals, ceramics, polymers, composites, semiconductors, and nanomaterials. Laboratories include the characterization of material properties and structure with advanced microscopies, tensile testing of metals, and synthesis of polymers,
metal nanoparticles, and carbon nanotubes, among others. Prerequisite: Open to students enrolled in the Engineering Physics graduate program or with permission of the instructor.
