MAT 4310 - Numerical Methods (3) When Offered: Spring Theoretical development and implementation of classical numerical methods. Topics covered include computer arithmetic, interpolation, and approximation. Numerical algorithms investigated may include root finding, interpolation, linear system solutions, derivative and integral estimation, and differential equation solutions. Knowledge of calculus, linear algebra, and programming will be assumed. Prerequisite: MAT 2240 and MAT 2310 or permission of the instructor, with MAT 2130 or MAT 3130 recommended.
