STT 5810 - Computational Probability (3) When Offered: Fall This course introduces students to calculus-based probability from a foundational level with an emphasis on applying theoretical results by using a statistical programming language. Topics covered involve fundamentals of probability including conditional probability and Bayes’ Rule; probability distributions for discrete and continuous random variables; and properties of random variables such as measures of central tendency and dispersion. Computational approaches for probability along with simulation-based computational approaches will be covered for each course topic.
