GES 2750 - Preparation for Careers in the Earth and Environmental Sciences (3) [WID] When Offered: Fall; Spring GEN ED: Junior Writing in the Discipline (WID) This course provides instruction in geological and environmental science research methods, through both oral and written communication. Topics include: quantitative and qualitative analysis, image processing, survey of scientific literature and digital information retrieval services, research design, data management, and research ethics. Student learning is augmented with peer-review of fellow students’ work and participation in review and revision processes. All activities are designed to help prepare students to more effectively conduct projects and communicate with fellow STEM professionals in their future careers. Prerequisite: Any laboratory course at the 2000 level or higher in GES, PHY, BIO, or CHE with a minimum grade of “C-” (1.7). Prerequisite or corequisite: R_C 2001 or its equivalent. Open only to GES majors and minors, with permission of department.
