VTN 4260 - Advanced Wildlife, Exotic, and Laboratory Animal Nursing Topics for the Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Nurse (3) When Offered: On Demand This course covers advanced husbandry techniques for common laboratory animals and the ethical considerations for animal research and husbandry. The course will also cover the role of the veterinary nurse/technician in the laboratory animal medicine and biomedical research field. This course will cover advanced topics in exotic and non-traditional pets and wildlife with a focus on disease identification/ management and nursing and rehabilitation techniques. The course is structured towards preparation for Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in the Academy of Veterinary Zoological Medicine, Clinical Practice (Exotic Companion Animal), and/or the Academy of Laboratory Animal Veterinary Technicians and Nurses. (3 credit hours) Prerequisites: Completion of 45 hours of VTN coursework and permission of the program advisor.
