MUS 2054 - Exploring the Alexander Technique (2)

This course provides an introduction to the Alexander Technique, an experiential study in self-awareness and choice. Alexander Technique specifically aims to equip students with embodied awareness skills, movement practices, constructive habits of mind and body, and an ability to recognize and modify unwanted physical, emotional, and mental patterns. Opportunities are provided for students to explore and experience the potential of the Alexander Technique to improve well-being and selfconfidence. By practicing and applying the Alexander Technique principles to relevant and concrete life situations, students will develop the skills to choose and create new habits that can positively impact their overall health, and increase creativity in their artistic, therapeutic, and academic pursuits. Lecture/Studio. Music performance majors may take MUS 2054 or MUS 3054  to fulfill their Alexander Technique requirement. MUS 2054 a prerequisite for MUS 4054
