PSY 5555 - Advanced Educational Psychology (3)

This course examines academic skill development, family development and functioning, and implications for practice. Students learn theory and research about the biological, cognitive, cultural, and social underpinnings of reading, writing, and mathematics development, as well as evidence-based approaches to assessment and remediation. Students also learn about family development across the lifespan, family systems theory, families of students with disabilities, and families in various contexts (e.g., families with different backgrounds, cultures, and needs).
