This course introduces students to the development, design, permitting, construction and commissioning of utility-scale PV power plants. Partnering with experts from the field, students learn firsthand about the key organizational partners involved and major processes required to convert land into a fully operational, grid-interactive power plant. Topics include utility solar industry market dynamics, electrical fundamentals of large-scale PV, comprehension of electrical, civil, and mechanical drawings, quality assurance best practices, and operation and maintenance strategies.
