General Education Requirements (44 Hours)
HPE 4320 (2 sh count for Gen Ed Wellness Literacy)
Major Requirements (48 Hours)
GPA Requirement: A CUMULATIVE GPA OF 2.7 IS REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION & LICENSURE A minimum grade of “C” (2.0) is required in each major course:18 hours must be completed at Appalachian
Proficiency Required: Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED
Must be current at time of graduation
Professional Education (24 Hours)
A minimum grade of “C” (2.0) is required in each course. To be admitted to teacher education (TE), students must take and satisfy testing requirements for all areas of Praxis I (Reading, Writing & Mathematics); SAT or ACT scores may be used in lieu of Praxis I provided required minimum scores are met. Praxis II Specialty Area Exam is required prior to Student Teaching. Second Academic Concentration (SAC) Requirements (9 Hours)
Note: SAC is 18 hours; up to 9 hours can be double counted from General Education and Major
SACs must be selected from either 1) Sport Science and Coaching or 2) Public Health. Other SACs may be taken with the approval of an advisor or the program director.
