General Education Requirements (44 Hours)


The following 16 hours of major requirements can also count in the General Education Program:

  • R C 1000  and R C 2001  (6 hours) count towards the General Education Writing Across the Curriculum requirement
  • MAT 1035  (3 hours) and 1 hours of ECO 2100  fulfill the General Education Quantitative Literacy requirement
  • ECO 2030  and ECO 2040  (6 hours) count towards the General Education Liberal Studies Experience requirement

COB Admission Requirements (27 Hours)


2.5 cumulative GPA (based on 12+ graded hours at ASU), 60 earned hours and completion of the following:

Students cannot be admitted to the COB with any outstanding grades of “I”.

Global Issues Requirement


Met within the other degree requirements - does not require additional course work

The Global Issues requirement can be met by satisfying one of the following:

  • International business course (See list below)
  • Business summer study abroad (minimum 3 hours)
  • Semester long study abroad for credit
  • Full-time 400-hour minimum international internship for credit
  • Foreign language courses at or above the 3000 level

Other Prerequisite Information


Students must have 54 hours to take 3000 level COB core courses and 84 hours to take any 4000 level COB course.

In addition to other prerequisites, a minimum grade of “C” in a WID course is required prior to taking any 4000 level business courses.

No more than five business courses at the 3000 level or above, including graduate-level courses, can be taken by students not admitted to the COB.

Note


In order to graduate, B.S.B.A. International Business Majors must achieve a minimum average GPA of 2.0 in the following 18 hours of Required Courses and IB Major Electives. The IB Major GPA does not include any course taken to fulfill a 3000/4000 level approved elective.

Language Requirement (15 Hours)


A minor in a second language or, if no minor is available, a minimum of 15 hours at the 2000 level or above in the selected language as chosen in consultation with the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. CHN/FRE/GER/JPN/SNH 3520 (Instructional Asst.) cannot be included in the language requirement. Students also pursuing a language major cannot declare a minor in the same language but must meet the requirements below as part of the language major. All language coursework must have an average GPA of 2.0. Prior to enrolling in courses at the 2000 level or above, the student must have completed coursework through the intermediate level (1050) or have passed a proficiency test of the chosen language. This can require as much as 12 hours of 1000 level coursework.)

International Experience


The student must participate in an approved international experience approved by the College. The experience must have a duration of at least 10 weeks. Generally, this will be satisfied through an international internship or a semester study abroad.

Approved Electives (6 Hours)


Selected with the approval of the COB in support of the student’s international business training. Typically the courses are in the following categories: additional 3000/4000 level business classes, additional second-language classes at the 3000/4000 level, internship, selected non business electives in the areas of anthropology, geography, history, or political science - P S 2240  has been pre-approved to count in this category) (cannot use MGT 3010  or FIN 3010 )

Free Electives (6 Hours)


  • 6 hours any level inside or outside of the COB
