• PSY 3010 - Psychology Applied to Teaching (3)
• SPE 3300 - Creating Inclusive Learning Communities (3)
• C I 3400 - Policies and Practices in Educational Assessment (2)
• SPE 4900 - Student Teaching in Special Education (6 OR 12) [CAP]

• Students must complete 12 hours of Student Teaching

Major Requirements (48 Hours)

Each course in major must be completed with “C” (2.0) or better and completed prior to student teaching.

• SPE 3350 - Characteristics, Theories, and Diagnosis of Students with Learning Differences: General and Adapted Curriculum (3) %
• SPE 3360 - Psychoeducational Strategies with Special Needs Learners: General and Adapted Curriculum (3) [W] %
• SPE 3370 - Introduction to Developmental Disabilities: General and Adapted Curriculum (3) %
• SPE 3374 - Assessment in Special Education (3) %
• SPE 3380 - Assistive Technology in Special Education (3) %
• R E 3900 - Principles of Reading Instruction for the Classroom Teacher (3) %
• R E 4710 - Diagnosis and Remediation of Reading Problems (3) #

Electives (6 Hours)

Students must take 6 hours of electives. Students who are also completing the General Curriculum may take SPE 4497 - Practicum III (3)  # as 3 hours of their electives.

Total Required (122 Hours)

A student must have at least a 2.70 grade-point average to be admitted to the teacher education program and must maintain a 2.70 grade-point average overall through student teaching.
