Additional Admission Requirements
Students selecting the Renewable Energy Engineering concentration must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or related fields and/or have completed three semesters of college-level calculus and a two-semester calculus-based physics sequence.
Course Requirements for the Master of Science in Technology
Total Required (Minimum 36 Hours)
Foundation Courses (3 Hours)
Research Core (6 or 9 Hours)
Choose One of the Following Courses
Concentration Requirements (24 or 27 Hours)
Renewable Energy Engineering Courses
Science and Mathematics Cognate Courses (6-9 Hours)
- 6-9 hours of approved graduate courses in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics or Statistics
Appropriate Technology Courses (6-9 Hours)
- 6-9 hours of approved Appropriate Technology courses; see the Graduate Coordinator in the Department of Sustainable Technology and the Built Environment for the specified list.
Other Requirements for the MS in Technology
- Thesis: Optional
- Proficiency: None required
- Candidacy: Required for thesis option; awarded upon approval of thesis committee and prospectus
- Comprehensive: Written Exam and Oral Presentation for Technical Competencies - Students selecting the non-thesis option will have a written and oral exam covering coursework included on their program of study. The written exam is typically completed during the third semester of graduate study, During the last one-third of the program and no later than the last regular class day of the semester, there will be an oral presentation of technical competencies to the program committee.
