All courses must be completed with a minimum grade of “C” (2.0).

PRAXIS I Core Academic Skills for Educators (CASE)

Major Course Requirement (27 Hours)


  • 15 hours in a NC T&I Skill Area +
  • (6 Hours required for the major. 9 hours available for DE if needed to reach 50 hours from a senior institution)

  • TEC Electives (6 hours approved major electives) ++

Students are required to take 50 hours from a senior institution

Second Academic Concentration (18 Hours)


Total of 18 hours required. (Up to 9 hours General education, major, and / or SAC). Select from the following:

  • Materials Science
  • STEM
  • Sustainable Design and Technology
  • or other SACs possible when recommended by program coordinator.

Electives (0-2 Hours)


  • Dependent on selected second academic concentration

Total Required (120 Hours)


A student must have at least a 2.70 grade-point average to be admitted to the teacher education program and must maintain a 2.70 grade-point average overall through student teaching.
