General Education Requirements (44 Hours)
Some general education requirements may be double-counted in the major with departmental approval. Please see your advisor for information.
Major Requirements (64-67 Hours)
2.0 major GPA is required for graduation. Major GPA calculation will include all courses taken in the major discipline, plus any other courses under Major Requirements. Minimum of 18 semester hours of courses taken to fulfill major requirements must be courses offered by Appalachian.
Sociology Core (25-28 Hours)
NOTE: courses marked below with an asterisk must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.0) or higher.
Sociology Electives (15 Hours)
12 hours must be at the 3000-4000 level
- 15 hours of sociology electives chosen with the consent of the advisor and related to the concentration
Concentration (24 Hours)
The individually designed concentration is planned by the student in consultation with and approval of an advisor. (Other currently available concentrations can be found on the appropriate checksheets.) The individually designed concentration is composed of courses primarily from disciplines other than Sociology. Students must meet prerequisites for courses chosen.
