Program of Study for the Master of Science in Applied Data Analytics


Basic Admission Requirements: Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and a complete application to the Graduate School .

Additional Admission Requirements: Personal Statement 

To be considered for admission, applicants must meet the criteria for admission to the Graduate School . Meeting these criteria does not guarantee acceptance.

Letters of Recommendation: Three

Minimum GPA to Qualify for Regular Admission: 3.0 or 2.5-2.99 cumulative GPA and GRE in the 50th percentile

Exam Scores: GRE

Standardized Exam Waiver Eligibility: The standardized exam requirement may be waived for applicants who have:

  • A cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher in your bachelor’s degree; OR 
  • Completed the graduate certificate in Business Analytics at App State with a minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher; OR 
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in your bachelor’s degree AND verified membership in the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society; OR 
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in your bachelor’s degree AND five or more years of relevant, post-baccalaureate work or military experience; OR
  • An earned master’s degree.

Accelerated Master’s Program


This program offers an Accelerated Master’s  option for undergraduate students with a 3.2 or higher currently enrolled at Appalachian State University.

Differential Tuition

Other Requirements for the MS in Applied Data Analytics

    • Students must demonstrate knowledge and ability in technology, statistical methods, business case analysis and professional presentation skills through a program level final project reviewed presentation.
